About the project

“10 Years of War!” is a documentary released in 2024 by the Ukrainian TV channel Espreso with the support of Internews Network and the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. The film is devoted to rethinking a whole decade of resistance to Russian aggression, from the events of the Revolution of Dignity and the start of the Russian invasion in 2014 to the vast challenges of the full-scale war. The leading figures and guides of the story are well-known Ukrainians who went through the crucible of this struggle, including paramedic Yuliia Paievska (“Taira”), politician and public figure Tetiana Chornovol, and poet and activist Svitlana Povaliaieva.

The film explores the phenomenon of the resilience and evolution of Ukrainian resistance. Through the personal stories of its heroes and witnesses, the authors reveal the pain of loss (including the memory of the late civic activist and soldier Roman Ratushnyi), investigate the Maidan cases, and show the age-old steadfastness of Ukrainians in the first days and months of the full-scale invasion in the Kyiv region, Mariupol, the Chernihiv region, and other hot spots. It is a deep reflection on how the country has changed over 10 years and why Ukrainian society continues to defend its freedom.
