About the project

“The Volunteer’s Path” is a documentary series that chronicles the evolution of the Ukrainian volunteer movement. The project focuses on ordinary people who chose not to give in to despair but to act: setting up foundations, weaving camouflage nets, closing million-hryvnia fundraisers for equipment, evacuating people and animals from the hottest spots, and providing logistics for the front line.

The continuation of the series broadens the geography and deepens the stories. The authors show how the volunteer movement has changed over time: from chaotic crisis firefighting in the first months of the war to systematic, institutionalized, and professional work in the rear. The new episodes focus on the resilience of local initiatives, burnout and recovery among volunteers, the synergy between business and civil society, and the stories of new heroes whose faces often remain outside the frame of large fundraisers.
