About the project

“Born to Live” is a Ukrainian documentary series (consisting of several episodes and profiles) created by director Vladyslav Robskyi and produced by Volodymyr Khanas. The project is devoted to the life, resilience, and psychological rehabilitation of veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who went through the Russian-Ukrainian war (from the start of the ATO/JFO to the full-scale invasion) and suffered severe injuries, losing limbs or becoming disabled and living with PTSD.

At the center of the story are the personal stories of four veterans: Artem Komisarchuk (a native of Ternopil who has defended Ukraine since 2014, survived captivity, and later stepped on a mine while evacuating a fellow soldier), as well as Vadym Ziabliitsev, Oleksandr Shvetsov, and Vasyl Stuzhenko. The authors show their everyday lives, the challenges people with disabilities face in the urban environment, the fight against stereotypes, and above all their incredible zest for life, sports (including victories in international competitions), and volunteer work. This film is a powerful source of motivation and a reminder of how important it is to support our defenders on their path to adapting to civilian life.
