About the project

“A Place Under the Sun” is a Ukrainian four-episode melodrama from 2021, produced by the film company Star Media and commissioned by the “Ukraina” TV channel. The project was directed by Ali Khamraiev. The main cast includes Yelyzaveta Maiska, Oleksandr Pashkov, Iryna Hoshovska, and other actors. It is an emotional story about life's trials, a woman's resilience, betrayal by those closest to her, and the fight for the right to happiness.

The heroine, Maryna, is used to devoting her whole life to caring for her husband and family, forgetting her own ambitions and needs. But her familiar, safe world collapses in an instant when her husband suddenly leaves the family for a young lover, leaving Maryna with practically nothing. Besides a broken heart and financial difficulties, she has to face the circumstances alone and prove to herself and others that she deserves her own “place under the sun.” After overcoming despair, she begins to build her life anew, finding unexpected support and genuine feelings where she did not expect them at all.
