The action takes place in an ordinary Ukrainian school on September 1. On the eve of the school year, an eleventh-grade girl, Katia, throws herself from the window of a high-rise, and soon another tragedy befalls another student, Max. Investigator Olha Makarova takes up the case. Gradually unraveling a tangle of secrets, hidden conflicts, school bullying, and adult indifference, the investigation exposes the terrible truth about how the virtual network and a secret curator (a “friend”) manipulate vulnerable teenagers, pushing them toward an irreversible step.

About the project
“Early Swallows” is a cult Ukrainian youth anthology series in the genre of psychological thriller and drama, created for the television channel “Novyi Kanal.” The idea and screenplay are by Yevhena Horbonosova, and the first season was directed by Valentyn Shpakov. The project became a real breakthrough on Ukrainian television thanks to its honest treatment of difficult social issues: bullying, domestic violence, drugs, teen suicide, and depression. The first season features talented young actors and stars of Ukrainian cinema: Oleksandr Behma, Taisiia-Oksana Shchuruk, Maksym Devizorov, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Mariia Smoliakova, and Anastasiia Pustovit.
