The heroine, Maryna Nikolaieva, is a well-known journalist whose life seems orderly and happy. But at the funeral of her father, an influential general, she suddenly learns a shocking truth: she was adopted, and the people she considered her biological parents are not. While trying to sort this out, Maryna ends up at a crime scene and suddenly becomes the main suspect in a murder. Her status as the general's daughter temporarily saves her from more serious consequences, and an experienced investigator, Volchok, decides to help her find the real answer and learn what actually happened to her real family.
