About the project

“The Mayor” is a comedy series produced by Novyi Kanal about today’s Ukrainian youth, regional development, career ambition, and the culture shock of a capital-city mindset colliding with the realities of Ukrainian village life. The project is directed by Oleh Turanskyi, with Olena Kanishevska as showrunner. The leading roles are played by Yevhenii Lisnychyi, Drii Pidlisnyi, Olha Sheremetieva, Viktoriia Bilan-Encha, and other talented Ukrainian actors.

The story centers on Anton, an ambitious young man from the capital who has made a large bet that within a year he can turn the depressed Ukrainian village of Antonivka into a thriving corner of Europe by taking the post of head of the OTH (united territorial community). In the second season, Anton and his team of loyal friends continue their comic yet effective reforms. New challenges await them: a struggle against local stereotypes, red tape, and attempts at sabotage by the old elites, along with romantic storylines, quirky business ideas, and even more heartfelt Ukrainian humor.
