About the project

“Vacation in a Pine Forest” is a Ukrainian four-episode melodrama from 2020, produced by the film company Ivory Films for the television channel “STB.” The film was directed by Alona Rainer, and the screenplay was written by Mariia Bek. The leads are played by Anna Sahaidachna, Prokhor Dubravin, Anastasiia Chepeliuk, Kostiantyn Koretskyi, and the legendary actress Ada Rohovtseva. It is an emotional story about shadows of the past that unexpectedly catch up with the characters during a vacation, call their present families into question, and force them to deal with old grievances.

At the center of events are two former college friends, Olha and Alla. In their student years, they were both in love with a Slavic philology instructor, Valerii Synytskyi. Valera chose Olha, but later she suddenly disappeared from his life without any explanation. Valera then married Alla, and Olha built her own family and had a son. Ten years pass. A dubious coincidence brings all three together in a picturesque place: they unexpectedly become neighbors in a cottage community while on vacation. This unexpected meeting makes the characters dive into memories, rethink the mistakes of the past, learn the true reasons for their old break-up, and test the strength of their present relationships.
